Special Weather Statement issued March 15 at 1:17PM CDT by NWS Green Bay WI

A historic winter storm will bring a widespread one to two feet of snow, with locally higher amounts to around 30 inches and blizzard conditions to northern Wisconsin through Monday afternoon. Heavy snow will continue across northern Wisconsin this afternoon, with snowfall rates of 2 to 4 inches per hour and reduced visibilities around 1/4 mile or less. There will likely be a lull in the heavier snow across north-central Wisconsin later this afternoon into early this evening, before another round of heavier snow arrives by late evening and continues overnight. Additional snowfall accumulations of 7 to 16 inches of snow is expected by early Monday afternoon, with the highest totals in far northeast Wisconsin. For the rest of the afternoon through Monday morning, increasing northeast to north winds will create blizzard or near blizzard conditions. Motorist should expect difficult conditions with snow covered roads and visibilities around 1/4 mile or less. The Monday morning commute will be severely impacted by the snow and blowing snow. Conditions should gradually improve Monday afternoon. Several counties have enacted tow bans while communities have declared a snow emergency. A Blizzard Warning is in effect until 4 pm Monday.
